I have many friends that watch the tv show Scrubs but I myself have never really gotten into it.  Well, since I am all about new things this month and have much free time on my hands I decided to give it a chance.  And as luck would have it this episode had something that really hit me right in the stomach.  Haven't you ever had that happen?  You are watching a show, a movie, maybe a commercial and something that's said resinates?  For me it was when JD, one of the Scrubs characters who narrates his life, says...The best way to lose something is to want it too bad.  Those of us who are runners know the pain of wanting something so badly that we almost self destruct.  Whether you are chasing a time, trying to stay on top, or just trying to get healthy, sometimes the more we want it, the more it seems to slip from our grasp.  I am reminded of a class I took in college where the professor grabbed a handful of sand, in his open hand he held a nice mound of sand.  Yet when he closed his hand into a fist it all spilled through his fingers and he was left with less than half the sand. I think JD and my college professor make a valid point. Sometimes we need to let things come to us, put in the work but also remember to let go and enjoy the ride.
